Less than a week to go!

Last weekend was successful! The remainder of the items we needed shipped to my parents, and we were able to find a ring for Nick. On the downside, his car died completely and we had to get a new one...but luckily that all came together Friday. He was driving my mom's borrowed Caddie (which I know Katie can appreciate) but now he has new wheels. Now I may just drive the caddie around for fun! :)

My parents left this morning with all the goodies pack in the van. They are driving down and stopping in Charleston. My dad calls the car the wedding express! So we're finishing things up and getting ready to head down on Thursday morning. We're starting to get really excited, although the stress is residing. We can't wait to see you all this weekend...I'll try to do one last post before we leave!

~2 weeks to liftoff!

Now I know why they say the devil is in the details. Because the details are so hellacious (I think I made up this word) that they *are* the devil. I've been quite busy over the last few weeks so I haven't had much time for posting, but things are finally coming together so that is really good!

I was able to find shoes last weekend for the dress, and my final fitting is on Saturday. So at least now I will know that the dress will be the right length. :) Most of the things I delayed ordering have arrived, and the last two are set to ship and arrive by next week. So that is a huge relief and my procrastination didn't ruin anything...yet...

Now it's time to put together the out of town boxes (or at least compile the goodies) and the little pamphlet that goes inside. If you haven't already, be sure that you RSVP to the cookout and the brunch. The rehearsal dinner is regrets only. We're trying to figure out the easiest place to distribute the boxes, so knowing where you'll be is a great help! We're headed to Dayton this weekend - we need to get Nick's wedding band...

I'm only half dead!

I did order the favors, but I didn't make Lindsey's deadline for the programs. I ordered some items for the out-of-town boxes though...which hopefully counts for something! Nick and I just haven't figured out the music or anything for the ceremony; sounds like a good job for the first week of April.

Thanks to everyone for all the special birthday wishes! (Special shout-out to Heather for flying in for Adam's organized bday fiesta that I crashed as co-birthday-er) I'm excited to see everyone in May for my next big life event...30 and then marriage all within about a month of one another. Who knew?!

There should be another invite on the way...who knew you could get so many mailings for one wedding? Be on the lookout!

Crunch time?

It's somewhat like school - we finally have a deadline for turning in an assignment (that's a subtle reminder the RSVPs are due next week)! We're about 5 weeks away, and it's time to start focusing on all the detail work I've ignored for so long. Ever the procrastinator, but my sister has been great about reminding me what I have to do and when it needs to be completed. I have two things that I have to get ordered this week (the programs and the favors) upon penalty of death.

We spent Easter in NYC with my mom, sister, her husband, and of course my brother, sister-in-law and niece. We went to see our new nephew, Graham. He was such a doll and sleeps like a lion (arbitrary reference to a random fact for Melissa). We also took my niece Madison to her second Broadway show, The Lion King. The photo is Nick and I at Easter brunch with a sleeping Graham. It was great to see the family and to have a reprieve from normal life for a spell. Sadly, I still don't have any shoes; go figure. Now it's back to planning...5 weeks to go!

Final planning meeting - tasting, etc

So, this past weekend was meant to be the big weekend. Hair and makeup trial, flower and linen review...but most importantly, the food and cake tasting. I left Friday morning to spend a day visiting with Katie. My mom, sister and Nick were supposed to leave around 3pm on Friday afternoon. Needless to say everyone else was snowed in Ohio while I made it out before the blizzard.

Katie was kind enough to cancel her Saturday and offer opinions so that I didn't have to go alone (my lifesaver!), but there are quite a few things that are open. Not ideal, but as Katie's mom said, this means I should have great weather karma for the big day!

Here's a picture message Nick sent me of our front door Saturday afternoon. Sadly, they continued to get snow. At least it wasn't just a flurry! Sea Island has shipped the leftover cake so that Nick will get to try something. Mean Delta wouldn't let me take any food through security to the plane, so let's hope that the pictures are enough for all of us to make the right decision. :)

Reception site preview

I posted a month or so ago with a picture of the front of the reception site. So I thought I'd add another teaser photo with a shot from the porch/patio looking toward the beach. Hopefully the weather will be this nice on the day of the wedding (but warmer!). We're headed back this weekend for the final visit and the food tasting. Keep your fingers crossed that all goes well.
